Lindy Point Overlook is a short 0.7 out-and-back trail located in Blackwater Falls State Park in Davis, West Virginia. The short trail is lined by WV State flower, the rhododendron. With minimal elevation gain, this trail is definitely worth the stop if you are in the park for the day.
To navigate to the trail, drive past the lodge and the sled run. It will be located at the end of Canaan Loop Road coming through the park. Do not allow GPS to lead you out of the park to come in the opposite side of Canaan Loop Road, this is impassible in some vehicles. Just drive through the park and you will find it quite easily. The parking area is a gavel lot with room for about 3-5 cars.
The trail head is directly attached to the parking lot and starts out as gravel. Soon, it turns to a dirt path which can be muddy with recent rainfall. In some sloppier areas of the path boardwalks have been established by the park. The trail ends with a wooden deck to overlook rock formations and the Blackwater River as it rushes down the canyon.

Looking to the right, you may see the Blackwater Canyon Trail cutting along the adjacent mountainside. This trail passes Douglas Falls and is a great place to walk or ride bikes. On the same side, you may also see public road 18, also known as Canyon Rim Road. This road connects the Olson Fire Tower to Douglas Falls but high clearance vehicles are needed to drive this road. It is washed out and has some large rocks, but is a fun day drive, especially in the fall.

Overall this is an easy little hike that offers stunning views of the Blackwater Canyon. Easily my favorite hike in Blackwater Falls State Park.
