The Strawberry moon was a breathtaking phenomenon that took place last weekend on 6/21/24 and 6/22/24. Luckly, I was able to catch a glimpse of the moon on Friday evening from the overlook at Cooper’s Rock.

However, Saturday night, I devised a plan to watch the sunrise and sunset from the same location… Spruce Knob.

Anyone who knows me knows that Spruce Knob holds a special place in my heart and the sunsets there are unrivaled by any other (at least in my book). That evening, some friends and I set out to watch the strawberry moon. Just as the sun was setting, it rained for about 20 minutes. After that, the rain stopped, and the mountain cleared up just in time for the moon. When the moon first rose, it was a fiery orange color, before rising to its normal position high in the sky and becoming just like any other full moon. We all got some great views close up from a spotting scope.

This weekend, I was very thankful to connect with old friends. We stayed up late catching up and talking about life until about 3 am when we decided to head back to camp for the night. Overall, a memorable weekend with good friends and an epic world to live in.
