Hello everyone! Thanks for joining me here on my blog. My name is Allison, it is so nice to meet you!
Born and raised in West Virginia, a deep love and connection with the outdoors came naturally and has only increased with time. Throughout college, I became more enthralled with the world around me and the recreational and scientific opportunities it offers.
Currently, I work full-time as a registered nurse while attending grad school. However, I am a huge advocate for a work-life balance and have always been a notorious play over pay gal. My hobbies include hiking, backpacking, caving, climbing, skiing, camping, kayaking, paddle-boarding, reading, playing guitar, being a plant-mom, and so much more.
Although fascinated from a young age, I did not always feel that outdoor recreation was accessible to me as a young woman. When describing my ventures to others, I would often receive comments about safety- thoughts that had not escaped my mind. However, with lots of research, wonderful mentors, and trial & error, I found my own definition of safe, comfortable, and exciting travel.
A North-Central West Virginia native, I have always had reverence for West Virginia’s beauty. However, it was not until I reached young adulthood, that I realized that West Virginia is home to thousands of hidden gems. As I began to share my hikes and other activities on social media, I was approached by friends, and then even strangers asking for details. Eventually, I began to make small itineraries for West Virginia road trips for friends. Soon, I realized I had a passion for sharing everything West Virginia has to offer!
My hopes for this blog are:
1. To raise awareness of the recreational opportunities in the state of West Virginia
2. To create a heightened sense of accessibility to outdoor recreation for everyone
3. To share tips and tricks based on personal experiences
I hope that you will follow along on my journey and that it inspires you to begin your own. Now get out there and SEE WV!
