The West Virginia Waterfall Trail was established by the West Virginia Department of Tourism in 2022. Although the name implies such, the West Virginia Waterfall trail is not a linear trail. Rather, the West Virginia Waterfall Trail is a quest to visit 40 of West Virginia’s over 200 waterfalls!
Waterfall wanderers from across the world have checked out our waterfalls and checked-in to score prizes along the way! How do I get started? Visit the West Virginia Department of Tourism website at: https://wvtourism.com/west-virginia-waterfall-trail/
This easy to navigate website guides waterfall chasers on the FREE registration and downloading of the app-style widget to the home screen of phones. Each waterfall is listed with a description as well as driving and hiking directions. This makes trip planning a breeze! All you have to do is show up, hike responsibly, and have fun!
Now here’s were I come in…
On New Year’s Weekend 2023, I made a plan to complete the West Virginia Waterfall Trail by the time I turn 25 in August 2024. I set off on a 4-day waterfall marathon in the southern portion of the state chasing a total of 20 waterfalls in 4 days (not including the other waterfalls not included on the West Virginia Waterfall Trail). Since then, I have been picking off other waterfalls along the trail to make it to 40 by August. My plan is to take you along with me while I complete the West Virginia Waterfall Trail to show you what I see and tell you what I know!
Currently, I am nearly finished but I still have a few more to hit! As I complete each stop along the Waterfall Trail, I will upload a video for each waterfall (and eventually articles)! To find these videos, you may click the waterfall specific links below or visit the entire playlist at: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGyYzDnBbXoNthLqg4H1frplOk_lfHACv&si=aqdHt63IQU8tHl3B
